Hi, Iām Karla.
I have been working with children as a state and national certified Speech Language Pathologist in the Portland area since 2016. I have extensive experience delivering speech and language therapy, as well as community support within the context of early intervention and early childhood special education. I am deeply motivated and eager to work with clients at any stage of their progress toward improved speech and language. I find immeasurable joy in working with families, caregivers, teachers, and other community partners.

My Philosophy
Families choose me because my philosophy is to treat the whole child. In my experience, a holistic approach considering environmental factors, family, and community involvement will foster optimal results. Changes in speech, behavior and language do not happen through speech and language therapy alone. This will look different for each client because each client has a unique set of skills and challenges. Quality functional communication and enhanced skills for everyday living activities are integral parts of each session at Rose Communication Therapy.
A little more about me
Prior to graduate school, I was a nanny to an autistic child and English teacher in Japan. Those experiences provided me with an excellent foundation for my future in speech and language pathology. I have a precocious daughter who has grown up coming to speech therapy sessions with me as a peer and communication partner. In my free time, I like to play board games, practice yoga, enjoy the outdoors, cook for my friends and spend time with my two cats.
